Breakwater: A Brand We Are Proud to Carry

We are selective about our brand list. If a product sits on our shelf, a budtender can tell you how it was made.

That is the bar. We look at who grew it, how it was processed, and whether we would hand it to a first-time customer and a longtime consumer with the same confidence.

Breakwater clears it, and it clears it across the whole catalog.

Breakwater started in Cranbury in 2015 and was one of the first six medical operators licensed in New Jersey. The company describes itself as the only independent still standing from that original group. It now runs dispensaries in Cranbury and Roselle Park, and its products reach shelves like ours across the state.

More to the point: the product does what the label says, batch after batch.

What Makes Breakwater Different

When you buy cannabis flower, gummies, a cartridge, or a jar of concentrate, you are mostly trusting a label. You cannot see inside it. You do not know who handled the material before it was packaged.

Breakwater makes that trust easier to give, for a few specific reasons.

Everything happens in-house. Many brands buy bulk material from third-party growers or processors and package the result. Breakwater cultivates, extracts, formulates, and packages under its own roof. That includes the kitchen where the gummies and chocolates are made. Fewer hands in the chain means less variation between batches.

The flower is hand-trimmed. Breakwater grows in small indoor batches and trims by hand instead of running buds through a machine. Hand trimming is slower, and it protects the trichome layer that carries the aroma.

The hash rosin is solventless. No butane. No CO2. Fresh-frozen cannabis goes into ice water, gets agitated until the trichome heads break away, and is filtered through mesh screens by micron size. Heat and pressure do the rest. What comes out is cannabis and nothing else.

Strains are chosen for the job. Not every cultivar Breakwater grows becomes rosin. The team selects specific strains for hash potential, which is why the solventless menu is shorter than the flower menu.

Every batch is lab tested. New Jersey requires testing by a state-licensed laboratory before anything reaches a shelf. Potency and terpene content vary by batch, so the label on the package in your hand is the number that matters.

These are not small distinctions. They are the difference between a brand we can explain and one we can only sell.

Premium Flower

The flower is where the cultivation work shows up first.

Breakwater grows indoors in small batches, with temperature, humidity, and feeding tracked at every stage. After harvest, every bud is trimmed by hand rather than run through a machine.

You can see the difference in structure, and you can smell it at our smell bar. Machine trimming is faster, and it knocks trichomes loose in the process. Hand-trimmed bud keeps more of that layer intact, which means more aroma when you break it open.

Rolled Joints and Infused Joints

Breakwater rolls joints from the same hand-trimmed flower it sells in jars. The plain rolled joints are flower and paper, nothing more.

The infused joints build on that base, and there are three styles worth knowing.

Single-source extract infused. Flower paired with extract from one cultivar rather than blended material.

Solventless hash rosin infused. Flower paired with the same ice water hash rosin sold on its own.

Hash holes. A core of concentrate running through the center of the joint rather than mixed into the grind.

All three run higher in total cannabinoid content than a flower-only joint. They also burn slower and hold flavor longer. Check the label for the exact numbers on that batch.

Live Hash Rosin

The solventless concentrates are the products most people ask us about.

The process starts with whole plants harvested and frozen immediately, which pauses terpene loss. The frozen material goes into an ice water slurry and gets agitated until the trichome heads break off. Mesh bags in several micron sizes catch the material. Heat and pressure finish the job.

No solvent touches any of it. That is the entire point of the category.

Breakwater sells it in several consistencies. Fresh press is exactly what it sounds like. Jam is looser and more terpene-forward. Cold cure is whipped and stable. Thumbprints are a small single-serving format.

Cartridges

Breakwater makes two kinds of carts, and they are not interchangeable.

The live hash rosin cartridges are filled with the same solventless material described above. Nothing is stripped out and added back, so the cart tastes like the strain it came from.

The single source extract cartridges come from one cultivar rather than blended bulk oil. They tend to be the more accessible option on price.

Both use CCELL glass and ceramic housings with a ceramic mouthpiece and heating element. Both thread onto any standard 510 battery you already own.

Full Spectrum RSO

RSO is a thick whole-plant oil, sold in a syringe and dosed in very small amounts.

Breakwater produces it with strain-specific methods rather than pooling leftover material. It also shows up as an ingredient inside some of the gummies.

This is a product to ask about before you buy. Our budtenders will talk you through portion size and format so nothing catches you off guard.

Gummies, Chocolate, and Lozenges

Breakwater runs its own kitchen, and the edibles reflect it.

Gummies. Four families: classic, solventless, ratio-formulated, and RSO. The ratio gummies pair THC with CBD, CBG, or CBN in stated amounts per piece. They come in a child-resistant pouch, so store them accordingly.

Chocolate. Small-format chocolates with clear cannabinoid labeling, including CBN versions.

Lozenges. Sugar-free mint tablets at 5mg THC per dose, pressed in-house and packed in a small tin. The daytime version adds CBG and the nighttime version adds CBN. They have been part of the Breakwater line since 2019.

Edibles take longer to come on than inhaled products, and the timing varies from person to person. Start with one serving and give it time before deciding about a second.

MCT Tinctures

Tinctures are the oldest product Breakwater makes.

Cannabis extract is suspended in organic MCT oil and measured by the dropper. That makes portioning straightforward, and it gives you an option with no smoke and no candy.

Rosin products are potent, and they sit at the higher end of the menu.

Our budtenders suggest starting with short draws and leaving time between them. That is good advice for anyone new to concentrates, not just new customers.

If you want a gentler entry point, the lozenges, ratio gummies, and tinctures all state cannabinoid amounts per serving. Measured formats are an easier place to start than a cart or a jar. Tell a budtender where you are at, and we will point you somewhere sensible.
